Skiers of the week: Drolet and Øvrum

Two skiers dominated this weekend, making my job easy. Jasmine Drolet and Matias Øvrum won both of their races. Øvrum is UVM’s third skier of the week after just two weekends. After just her first carnival, Drolet is Dartmouth’s first athlete to be named skier of the week this winter.

Jasmine Drolet is a freshman at Dartmouth College. Before joining the team in Hanover, New Hampshire, Drolet was skiing out of Rossland, British Columbia. She stepped to the top of the podium twice on Saturday, winning the 5km with a time of 14:17.4 and Friday's 10km with a time of 27:08.3.

After winning her first ever carnival, and emphatically, the Dartmouth freshman is off to a fast start in the EISA.

Matias Øvrum is a senior at the University of Vermont from Sandefjord, Norway. Like Drolet, he won both of his races at Sleepy Hollow, but while Drolet's back-to-back wins indicate a promising future in collegiate skiing, Øvrum's two victories are a natural progression of his solid EISA career.

The Norwegian won the 10km with a time of 23:45.2, and the 5km with a time of 12:29.5.
