After nine straight wins and nearly two seasons of dominance, Dartmouth’s historic streak finally hit a wall. On Saturday, the University of Vermont Catamounts surged to five podium finishes, securing a decisive carnival victory. The third stop on the EISA circuit took the league to the Dartmouth Skiway, which served as the site of last season's NCAA Championships. It was a weekend of breakthroughs and exciting action, as four different skiers claimed their first victories of the season.

A Tight Battle in Women’s GS
Women’s GS continues to be a nail-biter with no clear front-runner, as Middlebury’s Kjersti Moritz became the third different skier to win this season. After a dominant season on the Nor-Am circuit, Moritz returned to collegiate racing and overcame a first-run deficit of over a second to claim the victory. The result was crucial to the Panthers, who finished the weekend third in the carnival standings for their best finish of the season. Moritz enjoyed being back on the collegiate circuit, commenting “I had a lot of fun this weekend racing my first carnival of the season. It feels great to be back with this team, and I’m proud to have contributed some points and put down some fast skiing in the GS.”
Moritz was trailed by Cydnie Timmermann from the University of Vermont, who scored her second-best career finish in the GS and moved into second place in the discipline standings. A Dartmouth duo, Emma Resnick and Carly Elsinger, finished third and fourth for the host team. They were joined by Zoe Zimmermann in sixth, which was her second-best finish in the GS as well. Althea Noyes from Colby finished seventh and did just enough to hold onto the leader’s bib. She currently sits 19 points clear of Timmermann.
UVM Men Pull Ahead in GS
Oskar Gillberg and Gray Flanagan put an exclamation mark on the day for the Catamounts. It was the first collegiate win for Gillberg and the first podium as a Catamount for Flanagan, who both delivered crucial points. The Vermont native reflected on meeting a career goal by saying, “It’s always been my goal to not only be a Catamount but to contribute to the team, and it felt great to do that this weekend next to teammates.”
The Dartmouth men took advantage of home snow as Oscar Zimmer backed up his impressive performance from a week prior with a second-place finish in the GS. His teammate, Sawyer Reed, skied to fourth in his first Dartmouth Carnival. Alec Nolan from Saint Lawrence skied to fifth on the day, marking the best finish of his career and a result that will catapult him up the standings.

Dartmouth Tops the Slalom Podium
Dartmouth owned the top of the podium in the slalom as Zoe Zimmermann followed up her second-place finish at the Saint Lawrence Carnival with a victory. She won the day by a whopping 1.56 seconds over second-placed Timmermann. Calum Langmuir matched her result with a victory in the GS during his first carnival start of the season. Langmuir was followed by his teammate Zimmer in second place and UNH’s Jayden Buckrell in third.
UVM Women Place Three in Top 7 in Slalom
Cydnie Timmermann backed up her second place in the GS by making it three podiums in a row in the slalom, growing her lead in the discipline standings. Rounding out the podium was first-year Sara Stiel, while Kendahl Roufa provided the third score in seventh place on the day. The UVM women posted the highest points total on the day and were instrumental in staying ahead of Dartmouth in the team standings.
Results from Around the League
There were several other intriguing storylines across the league beyond the clash at the top. Boston College’s Bode Flanagan skied to fourth place in the slalom to move into third in the discipline standings. Alec Nolan from Saint Lawrence followed his GS success with a 12th-place finish in the slalom, and Megan Heckey from Plymouth State added another top 15 finish to stay firmly in the NCAA qualifying picture. Cooper Iacobelli from Williams continued his strong run of results at the Skiway with a 12th-place finish in the GS, while Harvard’s Duncan Armstrong landed in 14th.
Looking Ahead
The league will head to Stowe Mountain for the UVM carnival as the Catamounts look to carry this momentum onto their home hill. The league has not raced at Stowe since the 2020 season due to several years of bad weather. Fortunately, the upcoming weather looks cold and fairly clear for an intense battle in Vermont.
