EISA Championships Nordic Skiers of the Week

In an exciting conclusion to the carnival season at Rikert Outdoor Center, the Middlebury Carnival nordic skiers of the week are Ava Thurston and John Steel Hagenbuch of Dartmouth. Congratulations to Ava and John!

Ava Thurston put on strong performances at Rikert Outdoor Center, claiming two podium finishes at the EISA Championships. On Friday, Thurston took the victory by a large margin in the women's 7.5k classic individual start race, leading the field by over a minute. On Saturday, Thurston skied to a tight second-place finish in the women's 20k freestyle mass start, crossing the line just one second behind the winning time.

John Steel Hagenbuch

Dartmouth

John Steel Hagenbuch arrived at Rikert Outdoor Center fresh off of competing at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games, putting together an outstanding weekend of racing. On Friday, Hagenbuch won the men's 7.5k classic individual start race by over a minute. On Saturday, Hagenbuch gapped the field from the start of the men's 20k freestyle mass start, taking the win by almost two minutes.
