It’s hard to believe that the carnival season is already coming to an end. The UNH Carnival and EISA Regional Championships were hosted at the Jackson Cross Country Center. This is the final weekend of normal season racing and the last chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships at Oak Hill. Day 1 of the Carnival was a 7.5k classic individual race. Skiers started at 30-second intervals and completed two laps of a 3.75k course shown in the map below.
Course Map

Women
The women’s race kicked off at 10:00am with Dartmouth skier Emma Reeder starting first. The Dartmouth women threw down an impressive team performance and swept the podium. Jasmine Drolet came in first and her teammate Ava Thurston came in 2nd, just four seconds behind Drolet. Rounding off the podium for the day was Nina Seeman. The Dartmouth dominance didn’t end with the podium. The team managed to grab five of the top ten spots with Tatum Witter and Emma Reeder coming in 7th and 10th respectively. The Dartmouth block was broken up by Annie McColgan (UVM), Emma Crum (Bowdoin), and Shea Brams (Middlebury) coming 4th, 5th, and 6th place respectively.
Men
The men’s race started at 12:00pm with Williams skier Quinn McDermott starting first. Dartmouth skier John Steel Hagenbuch got the win today with a time of 19:04.7. Middlebury skiers Logan Moore and Jack Christner earned 2nd and 3rd place respectively. When asked about the course, Moore commented, “this course is awesome, it’s a tough course with a lot of climbing and transitions. If you’re not nailing those and carrying momentum through the course, it would be tough”. UVM skier Finn Sweet skied a great race today and placed 5th. UNH skier Roger Anderson had another great classic race and came in 6th. William’s skier Keelan Durham placed 8th today and commented, “it was a nice place to end the season, Jackson’s fun. The wave downhill is maybe the most fun downhill on the EISA circuit.”
